He has a proven record of creating jobs for our people, co-authoring the largest tax cut in Louisiana history, protecting our 2nd Amendment rights, and working hard for costal restoration.

About: Damon J. Baldone is a 1982 graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School, received his B.S. in biology in 1986 from Nicholls State University, and a 1992 Doctorate degree in law from Southern University Law Center. He was born and raised in Houma by his parents John and Susie Maronge Baldone.

He was elected to the House of Representatives in June of 2001 and reelected in 2003 and 2007. He was named the 2003 Outstanding Freshman Legislator and 2007 Legislator of the Year for Coastal Restoration and Hurricane Protection by the Louisiana House of Representatives. He served District 53, which includes portions of Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish, and was appointed to the Governor’s DWI Task Force, the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Costal Restoration and Conservation, and the House Commerce Committee.


Trusted Experience: Damon is owner and practicing attorney with Damon J. Baldone & Associates, where he often represents ordinary people who have been injured because of another’s disregard; owner of Baldone Offshore, LLC; president-director of Baltech, Inc., a pharmaceutical company holding 17 patents worldwide for the treatment of viral infections; president and director of Terrebonne Aviation, Inc.; owner of Bayou Inn Motel; broker and agent with Baldone Real Estate; and owner of Baldone Rental Properties. Before becoming an attorney, Damon was a teacher who taught at the junior high level, as well as at LSU, Nicholls State University and Baton Rouge College.


Lifetime Of Caring For Our Community: Damon is actively involved in the community, serving on the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce, the Terrebonne Association for Retarded Citizens (TARC) Board, The Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Foundation, The Knights of Columbus, the Houma-Thibodaux Apartment Association, St. Josephs Italian Society, Restore or Retreat, South Central Industrial Association (SCIA) and is a parishioner of St. Francis De Sales Cathedral. He volunteers with United Way, American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and Relay for Life.
